What is Horizen(ZEN)?
Horizen (ZEN) is a blockchain network that leverages zero-knowledge cryptography to support decentralized applications (dApps) and enhance blockchain interoperability. Powered by the Zendoo protocol, Horizen can facilitate up to 10,000 sidechains and handle a transaction throughput of up to 10,000,000 transactions per second (TPS). Horizen’s native cryptocurrency, ZEN, is a mineable Proof-of-Work (PoW) token that can also be staked within the network’s node system to contribute to decentralization. Developers can utilize various Software Development Kits (SDKs) to build their own blockchains within the Horizen ecosystem.
Horizen operates through the Zendoo protocol, which uses SNARK-verification for blockchain interoperability, allowing flexible sidechain configurations with different consensus mechanisms and speeds. Developers can deploy blockchains on the network using SDKs such as Blaze and Latus, which are based on IOHK’s Ouroboros proof-of-stake protocol. ZEN holders can stake their coins to support the network’s infrastructure and help maintain its decentralized nature.
The Horizen network is designed to enable the creation of scalable, high-performance blockchains while maintaining security and decentralization. The Zendoo sidechain framework allows for thousands of independent blockchains to run in parallel, offering a wide range of use cases from financial services to supply chain tracking, data privacy solutions, and more.
