Grayscale Research has updated its list of the “Top 20” cryptocurrencies for Q1 2025

Grayscale Research has recently updated its list of the “Top 20” cryptocurrencies to watch for Q1 2025, providing insights into promising digital assets with strong potential. The update introduces six new diversified tokens: HyperLiquid, Ethena Labs, Virtuals Protocol, Juputer, Jito (JITO), and Grass, while also bringing Chainlink (LINK), Helium, and Optimism (OP) back into the top 20. However, Celo has been excluded from the latest list.

The selection of these cryptocurrencies was based on a variety of metrics, including network adoption, growth catalysts, fundamentals, tokenomics, supply data, and potential risks. Grayscale’s research highlights several key areas that are poised for attention in Q1 2025, such as decentralized finance (DeFi), staking and liquid staking, and Solana’s ecosystem, with a special mention of artificial intelligence (AI).

The firm remains optimistic about sectors like Ethereum layer-2 solutions, tokenization, and decentralized physical infrastructure (DePIN), which continue to attract interest from investors and regulators alike. Grayscale’s updated list reflects a continuation of previous quarters’ themes, particularly the continued growth of Ethereum scaling solutions, tokenization, and DePIN, with protocols like Optimism, Chainlink, and Helium representing these areas.

In addition to the crypto list update, Grayscale has also made headlines by filing a Form 8-K for a Horizon Trust with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). Moreover, the firm has launched individual trust products based on Lido DAO (LDO) and Optimism, underscoring its ongoing expansion in the cryptocurrency investment space.
