BitGo and Republic have formed a strategic partnership to expand access to private equity investments for individual investors, democratizing access to alternative investment opportunities traditionally available only to institutional and high-net-worth investors.
The collaboration leverages BitGo’s robust infrastructure to enhance Republic’s blockchain-powered investment platform. Through this partnership, private market investments, such as the Hamilton Lane Private Infrastructure Fund (HLPIF), will be tokenized, allowing ordinary investors to access previously exclusive asset classes. The tokenization process makes it easier to trade and manage these assets on the blockchain, offering broader access to investment products that were once out of reach for most individual investors.
Mike Belshe, CEO and co-founder of BitGo, emphasized the company’s role in powering this transition, stating, “Bringing the needed infrastructure to Republic in order to offer its investors access to never-before reachable assets is what BitGo is all about.” He further noted that BitGo’s infrastructure is not limited to digital assets but can also support regulated securities, whether tokenized on-chain or managed off-chain.
BitGo is widely recognized for its services in crypto custody, wallet solutions, staking, and trading. The company has significantly expanded its operations in recent months, extending services to retail investors and establishing a global over-the-counter (OTC) crypto trading desk. As the financial markets increasingly move toward blockchain solutions, BitGo is positioning itself as a key player in facilitating this shift.
The partnership between BitGo and Republic marks an important step toward mainstreaming blockchain in traditional financial markets, with tokenized investments opening up new possibilities for a broader range of investors. This move aligns with the broader trend of making high-value, private market investments more accessible to a wider audience.
