Animoca Brands Partners with Soneium to Develop New Identity Layer, Anime ID

Animoca Brands has partnered with Soneium to create Anime ID, a new decentralized identity (DID) and reputation layer designed to enhance the anime community within the Web3 space. This collaboration aims to provide anime fans with a platform to develop digital identities, manage credentials, and create unique profiles that integrate with various decentralized applications (dApps) in the Soneium blockchain ecosystem.

Anime ID will be powered by Moca Network, Animoca Brands’ digital identity infrastructure platform, which will deploy its AIR SDK (Account, Identity, and Reputation SDK) into the Soneium blockchain. This will enable users to build embedded accounts and manage their reputation within the community, promoting engagement in the Web3 environment.

The project is spearheaded by San FranTokyo, a community-driven cultural protocol supporting global anime and manga culture, and a launch partner of the Anime Foundation. San FranTokyo will also lead anime-themed campaigns on Soneium to attract more anime fans into the Web3 space and introduce new anime-inspired experiences.

Anime ID is positioned to revolutionize the fandom, loyalty, status, and reputation aspects of anime culture by allowing users to contribute, gain recognition, and unlock various benefits within the Anime Foundation community. This initiative is seen as a step toward bridging the gap between the anime community and blockchain technologies.

Jun Watanabe, Chairman of Sony Block Solutions Labs at Soneium, emphasized the market potential of the anime fan community, which is one of the largest entertainment industries globally. By integrating Moca Network’s AIR SDK and Anime ID, the collaboration aims to onboard global anime fans to the blockchain, enabling them to create, collaborate, and contribute to the culture.

Yat Siu, Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Animoca Brands, highlighted that the partnership would not only enhance entertainment experiences but also create a seamless digital ecosystem that integrates anime, gaming, and blockchain technologies, further promoting Web3 adoption.

This isn’t Soneium’s first foray into the anime space; the platform has previously collaborated with YOAKE and OpenSEA to launch an NFT collection based on the anime movie The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light, which is available on Netflix.

The partnership signals an exciting new chapter for both the anime community and the broader Web3 ecosystem, combining digital identities with entertainment and blockchain technology to create unique and immersive fan experiences.
