Aave Eyes Bigger 2025 After Net Deposits Hit All-Time High

Aave, a leading decentralized finance (DeFi) protocol, has had a remarkable year in 2024, marked by a series of key milestones. However, the protocol is aiming for an even more successful 2025, with several exciting developments in the pipeline.

Aave, which offers a non-custodial platform for users to earn interest on their deposits and borrow assets, shared its optimistic outlook in its end-of-year review on X (formerly Twitter). Among the key highlights were the introduction of Aave 2030 and Aave V4. The proposal for Aave V4 focuses on the strategic evolution of the protocol, with improvements in modularity, governance overhead reduction, capital efficiency, and innovative liquidity rollouts.

Aave’s strong growth trajectory is reflected in its new milestones. The protocol saw its Total Value Locked (TVL) hit an all-time high, boosted by net deposits reaching $35 billion. Additionally, Aave expanded into new markets, including Aave DAO’s deployments on Scroll, BNB Chain, ZKSync Era, and Ether.fi, with a combined value size of $2.55 billion.

Looking ahead to 2025, Aave’s governance, through Aave DAO, is expected to approve integrations with more than six new chains. Current proposals for expansion include targeting integrations with Sonic, Mantle, Linea, Botanix Labs’ Spider Chain, and Aptos.

Aave also plans to continue pushing for growth with GHO, its decentralized overcollateralized stablecoin. After debuting on Arbitrum in 2024, GHO is set to expand cross-chain, with plans to go live on Base and Avalanche in the coming months.

In terms of token performance, the AAVE token saw significant price gains in 2024, reaching highs of $385 — a peak not seen since September 2021. While recent gains have slightly corrected, AAVE is still up by more than 183% over the past year, though it remains about 52% below its all-time high of $661 from May 2021.

With these developments and a roadmap focused on further expansion and innovation, Aave is poised for a strong year in 2025.
