Ondo Finance Dominates RWA Sector with Leading Transaction Volume

Ondo Finance (ONDO) has emerged as a dominant player in the real-world asset (RWA) sector, particularly in terms of transaction volume, outperforming other RWA tokens despite the ongoing market downturn. According to data from IntoTheBlock, Ondo Finance has significantly outpaced other tokens in the RWA space in recent months. Although the transaction volume for ONDO was relatively low for most of 2024, it experienced a substantial surge toward the end of the year. In January 2025, the transaction volume peaked at over $400 million, before settling below $300 million. Despite the decline, it remains the top performer in the RWA sector in terms of volume.

This surge in transaction activity comes alongside major updates to Ondo Finance’s platform. On February 5, 2025, Ondo Finance announced a significant update to its Ondo Global Markets platform, which now facilitates the tokenization of U.S. securities, including stocks, bonds, and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). The platform currently offers global exposure to over 1,000 securities listed on major exchanges like the NYSE and Nasdaq, expanding its reach and appeal to investors worldwide.

The global market for tokenized real-world assets has also seen steady growth over the past year. According to data from RWA.xyz, key players such as BlackRock have contributed to a total value of over $17 billion in the tokenized assets market. Within the $3.5 billion market for tokenized U.S. Treasuries, Ondo Finance holds a substantial $650 million market share, further solidifying its position as a leader in the space.

Founded in 2021, Ondo Finance specializes in the tokenization of securities, with a particular focus on U.S. assets. The company claims to hold nearly 40% of the global market share in tokenized securities. Ondo currently offers three primary tokenized products—OUSG, OMMF, and USDY—which provide exposure to U.S.-based asset classes such as U.S. Treasuries and money market funds.

One notable feature of Ondo Finance’s token (ONDO) is its appeal to large investors, or “whales.” Data from IntoTheBlock reveals that 88% of ONDO’s market is held by whales, indicating that the token is heavily concentrated in the hands of institutional or high-net-worth individuals. Over the past week, ONDO saw $1.2 billion in transactions, each exceeding $100,000, signaling strong interest from large investors.

As of the latest data, ONDO’s price stands at $1.22, reflecting a 4% increase in the past 24 hours. Despite the broader market challenges, Ondo Finance’s continued dominance in transaction volume and its strategic updates to its platform position it as a significant player in the growing tokenized assets market.
