Pi Network Founders Reveal Open Network Plans and Timeline for 2025 Mainnet Launch

Pi Network’s founders have shared significant updates regarding the timeline and conditions for the upcoming launch of the Open Network, set to take place in the first quarter of 2025. Initially, the Pi Network team had hoped to launch the mainnet by the end of 2024, but they have now confirmed that this goal will not be met. However, the delay is due to specific conditions that must be fulfilled before the mainnet can go live, and the founders have outlined these requirements in their latest update.

One major milestone reached is that Pi Network has successfully onboarded over 18 million Know-Your-Customer (KYC) verified Pioneers, surpassing its original target of 15 million. The team, led by founders Chengdiao Fan and Nicolas Kokkalis, has focused heavily on refining the KYC process, implementing updates to handle edge cases, resubmissions, and improving the overall efficiency of the system.

Despite meeting the KYC goal, there remains a significant gap in the number of Pioneers who have migrated to the mainnet. Currently, about 8 million of the 18 million KYC-verified Pioneers have successfully transitioned to the mainnet, which is far from the 10 million migration target. As a result, Pi Network is aiming to complete the migration of the remaining Pioneers by January or February 2025. To speed up the migration process, improvements have been made, with over 500,000 Pioneers successfully migrating in just the past week. Additionally, a new feature will soon be introduced, allowing Pioneers who have already migrated to the mainnet to transfer more of their Pi balances.

Pi Network is working diligently to meet the remaining conditions for the Open Network launch. The first condition, involving the scaling of KYC and mainnet migration, is well on its way to being completed, with ongoing improvements to ensure the launch proceeds smoothly. The third condition, which concerns external factors, has not presented any new challenges, and there are no delays expected from external forces at this time.

As part of the preparation for the mainnet launch, Pi Network has extended the Grace Period deadlines to January 31, 2025. This extension provides more time for Pioneers to secure their Pi Coins before the transition to the Open Network. In addition, the development team has been busy preparing for the launch by deploying over 80 mainnet-ready apps and releasing a new interface that will make Pi apps accessible through the Pi browser.

With these updates in mind, many analysts remain bullish on Pi Network’s potential. Some predict that Pi Coin could reach the anticipated target price of $100, citing strong technical support and the network’s ongoing improvements as key drivers for its future success. As Pi Network continues to evolve and prepare for the Open Network launch, it is clear that the team is committed to ensuring a smooth transition and a successful long-term future for the project.
