Ubisoft, renowned for its iconic titles like Assassin’s Creed and Far Cry, is venturing into web3 gaming with the upcoming launch of its tactical role-playing game, Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, on the Oasys blockchain. Set to go live on October 23, 2024, the game will be part of HOME Verse, a gaming hub on Oasys, an Ethereum layer-2 network designed for optimized gaming experiences.
Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles will feature player-versus-player battles in the mystical realm of Grimoria, where players can collect and utilize 75,000 unique digital collectibles known as Champions. Each Champion possesses distinct traits that enhance gameplay and competitive battles.
This launch marks a significant step in Ubisoft’s broader web3 strategy, initiated nearly a year ago through its Strategic Innovation Lab, which aims to explore and expand the possibilities of gameplay within the blockchain space. By integrating blockchain technology, Ubisoft seeks to create new opportunities for players and enhance their gaming experiences.
“With Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles, we’re bringing a true gaming experience to Web3. This isn’t GameFi—it’s about pure, immersive gameplay that draws players in, while giving them the freedom to own their assets and shape the game’s future,” said Sylvain Loe-Mie, executive producer for Champions Tactics.
Oasys’ partnership with Ubisoft significantly boosts its footprint in the crypto gaming sector. The blockchain platform is rapidly establishing itself as a leader in web3 gaming, attracting notable collaborators like SEGA and Yield Guild Games as its proof-of-stake network validators. This alliance with Ubisoft, alongside these other major players, underscores Oasys’ commitment to creating a robust ecosystem for blockchain-based games, enhancing both scalability and user experience within the gaming community.
