MetaMask and Binance Integrate SPACE ID to Simplify Crypto Deposits

MetaMask and Binance are joining forces with SPACE ID to tackle one of crypto’s long-standing pain points: complicated and error-prone transfers between wallets and exchanges. The integration of Payment ID, a new zero-knowledge-powered identity solution from SPACE ID, aims to make moving crypto as effortless as using apps like Venmo or Revolut.

At its core, Payment ID is designed to simplify and secure crypto transactions by replacing long and confusing wallet addresses with human-readable identifiers. Users can now link their wallets across multiple chains to one simple ID—created using familiar services like Gmail or Yahoo—that works across CEXs (like Binance) and Web3 platforms (like MetaMask). This dramatically cuts down the risks of copy-paste errors, chain mismatches, and phishing scams, which have cost users millions over the years.

MetaMask already supports the Payment ID system, with Binance integration coming soon, according to a press release from SPACE ID. Once fully implemented, users will be able to send crypto directly to a recipient’s ID, rather than trying to track down exact deposit addresses or manually selecting the right network.

Why It Matters

In crypto, usability is everything. While the technology under the hood is powerful, adoption has long been hindered by the steep learning curve, especially around managing addresses, chains, and transaction metadata. According to Harrison Seletsky of SPACE ID, the ultimate goal is to make crypto easier than traditional finance—and this initiative is a major step toward that.

Christian Montoya from MetaMask echoed the sentiment, highlighting how Payment ID, paired with MetaMask Snaps, enhances privacy and interoperability while reducing complexity for users.

What Comes Next?

SPACE ID says it’s not stopping at Binance. The team is already in talks with other top centralized exchanges and wallet providers to expand the reach of Payment ID. Backed by a robust ecosystem—over 6.7 million registered domains and 2.7 million users—SPACE ID is positioning itself as a critical piece of infrastructure in the race to simplify Web3 onboarding.

The system currently supports multiple chains including Ethereum, BNB Chain, Arbitrum, and Story Protocol, with more to come.

In a space where user experience can make or break a product, this partnership has the potential to make crypto far more accessible—especially for newcomers who are still trying to figure out what a 42-character hex string even means.
